This study focuses on the Lalmai Hill range in Cumilla, which comprises multiple sites that have garnered considerable attention due to their rich prehistoric heritage. While previous investigations focused on the southern part, covering a length of 16.53 km and a width of 1 km to 2.5 km, this study aimed to explore the entire hill range with the objective of uncovering new signs of prehistoric activities and digitally documenting them. Intrusive surface surveys were conducted in an unsystematic manner due to the challenging hilly terrain, and samples were collected without following a predetermined sampling strategy. The findings reveal the discovery of four new sites in the southern region, where sixty-one Stone Age tools were unearthed. The results show that the tool assemblages consist of two major categories with six different varieties based on their typology. Detailed examination of the physical attributes of the tools primarily reveals controlled knapping techniques applied to remove flakes and manufacture the tools. The presence of fossil wood and the absence of fossil wooden tools in the northern and middle sections of the hill range suggest that the southern part offered favorable environmental resources for shelter to prehistoric migrants. Additionally, the exposed fossil woods, which served as suitable raw material, are prominent features of the Dupi Tila formation, dating back to the Plio-Pleistocene epoch. The study underscores the importance of continued investigation and excavation to unravel the intricate signs of prehistoric culture within this archaeological landscape.
2024-01-23T00:00:00+03:00Copyright (c) 2024 CenRaPS Journal of Social Scienceshttps://journal.cenraps.org/index.php/cenraps/article/view/100A Study on the Challenges and Legal Issues arising from Chinese investment in Bangladesh Natural Resources and Infrastructure2023-05-28T06:53:08+03:00Al-Mamnur Rashidmamun.xmu@gmail.com
This study focuses on the challenges and legal issues surrounding Chinese investment in Bangladesh's natural resources and infrastructure. It looks at the impact of Chinese investment on the country's resources and infrastructure, including any legal and regulatory issues that may arise. The study may examine how Bangladesh's laws and regulations protect the country's natural resources and infrastructure from foreign investment, and whether these laws are adequate to ensure that the country's resources are being used sustainable and in a manner that benefits the local communities. Additionally, the study may look at the role of international law and international organizations in mediating disputes between Bangladesh and Chinese investors. I have mentioned foreign investments in natural resources of Bangladesh e.g. natural gas, petroleum oil, coal and water resources. Until now, China only invests in a couple of sectors relating to natural resources. These investments are infrastructure projects e.g. power generation, construction, port establishment, agro-processed product, electrical and electronics, light engineering, roads, railways, power plants, and water treatment facilities, etc.

This is a second generation Chinese BIT that incorporated general Characteristics of BITs of that era. Under this BIT, Regarding the dispute of expropriation, an ad hoc arbitral tribunal can be formed which would determine its own procedure, but the first negotiation shall take place between the parties to solve the dispute. Under these agreements, the disputes shall be settled by applying generally recognized principles of international law accepted by the parties.
2024-01-23T00:00:00+03:00Copyright (c) 2024 CenRaPS Journal of Social Scienceshttps://journal.cenraps.org/index.php/cenraps/article/view/108Foreign Influence on Ottoman Miniatures in the Context of Selected Examples2024-01-05T16:04:58+03:00Halide Aslanhaslan@ankara.edu.trFarjana Akterfarjanashakilaub@gamil.com
Ottoman miniature art has an important place in Islamic miniature art. For nearly three hundred years under the supervision of the Ottoman sultans, the palace nakkashane produced the most valuable works of Turkish miniature art. Art-loving Ottoman sultans patronized both local and foreign artists in the workshop. Therefore, with the joint efforts of artists who mastered different styles, Ottoman miniature art came into the era of extreme progress of Turkish miniature art. It is noteworthy that there was foreign influence on Ottoman painting but it never retained ownership of Ottoman painting. Although the Ottoman Empire gained such richness in miniature but the strong influence of external elements was proven. In this article, it has been examined in order to identify the foreign characteristics that influenced Ottoman miniature art. Apart from the miniatures used as samples in the research, many Ottoman miniatures which contain foreign influences were also examined to identified similar and different aspects. In this way the data and results were generated and strengthened.
2024-01-23T00:00:00+03:00Copyright (c) 2024 CenRaPS Journal of Social Scienceshttps://journal.cenraps.org/index.php/cenraps/article/view/114The Calcutta Marwaris and the Swadeshi Movement: In the Context of Boycott and Swadeshi Politics (1905-1907)2024-01-11T21:39:04+03:00Imran Shaikhshaikhimran.bwd744@gmail.com
At the dawn of the 20th century, an organized struggle against the partition of Bengal significantly influenced the trajectory of Indian politics. The Swadeshi movement engendered political extremism within the realm of Indian nationalism, leading a contingent of educated Bengalis to take up arms against British rule. In these circumstances, Bengali leaders adopted the policies of 'Boycott' and 'Swadeshi' to undermine British economic interests in Bengal. This paper seeks to explore the role played by the Marwari community of Calcutta in the anti-partition movement of 1905. During that era, the Marwaris were integral to the European trading system. They procured raw materials from various parts of the country for export and served as distributors of foreign products in the local market. Marwari traders were aligned with the British in the realm of commerce. Given this context, it is natural to question how the Marwari traders of Calcutta reacted to the boycott of foreign goods. What if we were to uncover, albeit sparingly, instances of Marwaris supporting the anti-partition boycott movement in history? This paper aims to address the following questions to comprehend the involvement of Calcutta's Marwaris in the 1905 Swadeshi Movement. Firstly, to what extent did the policy of boycotting foreign goods succeed within the Swadeshi movement? Secondly, what was the impact of the 'Boycott' and 'Swadeshi' policies on the Calcutta Marwaris? And thirdly, did the Calcutta Marwaris indeed participate in the Swadeshi Movement, and if so, what motivated their involvement? Most prevailing studies have dismissed the participation of the Marwari Community of Calcutta in the Swadeshi movement. This paper aims to uncover the answers to these questions and shed light on the extent of the Marwari community of Calcutta's involvement in the Swadeshi movement.
2024-01-23T00:00:00+03:00Copyright (c) 2024 CenRaPS Journal of Social Scienceshttps://journal.cenraps.org/index.php/cenraps/article/view/105Code Switching in Television Advertisements in Bangladesh: Features and Facts2023-12-10T18:42:32+03:00Most Salma Aktersalmaakter311299@gmail.comMohammad Golam Mohiuddinm.uddin2611@gmail.comUmme Hani M Joherhanijoher2018@gmail.com
Switching codes has been a strategic communication tool in today's world of business and trades, and it is largely noticeable in television advertisements. The paper explores the striking features of code switching and investigate the reasons behind Bangla-English code switching in Bangladeshi television advertisements and its impact on viewers. The study used a mixed method approach for data collection including questionnaire, semi structured interview and observations. The researchers conducted interview of advertising managers, questionnaire survey among students and mass people, and observed various TV channels to collect authentic data. The results reveal that intra-sentential code switching is the most prominently employed type of code switching in television advertisements. The study also finds that code switching is used in television advertisements to attract and engage viewers, bridge lexical gaps, emphasize key points, and enhance contextual understanding. Besides, the results demonstrate that code switching has a notable impact on viewers, enhancing their ability to recall advertisements and influencing their purchasing decisions. The researchers recommend that advertisers should consider the social standing of their intended audience and determine whether code switching aligns well with both the product's image and the social identities of the consumers.

Keywords: code-switching, television, advertisement, impact on viewers
2024-01-28T00:00:00+03:00Copyright (c) 2024 CenRaPS Journal of Social Scienceshttps://journal.cenraps.org/index.php/cenraps/article/view/113Book Review2024-01-12T01:13:29+03:00Saeyd Rashed Hasan Chowdurysaeydrashed.du1991@gmail.com
This scholarly examination critically assesses the literary work titled "Mukashifate Aynia", authored by Imam Rabbani, also known as Abu'l-Barakāt Aḥmad ibn 'Abd al-Ahad ibn Zayn al-Abidin al-Faruk al-Sirhindī. In "Mukashafat al-Ayniyya," Imam Rabbani underscores the importance of strict adherence to Sharia. He contends that individuals deviating from full compliance with the Quran and the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (Pbuh) will not reap benefits in either the temporal realm or the afterlife. Imam Rabbani elucidates a comprehensive framework for individuals aspiring to be steadfast adherents of Sharia, delineating its constituents into three fundamental elements: knowledge, action, and sincerity. According to Imam Rabbani, sincerity is the linchpin encompassing knowledge, action, and the quintessence of Sharia. He posits that achieving complete sincerity necessitates affiliation with a Sufi order. He extols the Naqshbandi-Mujaddidi Sufi order as the preeminent, uncomplicated, and profoundly meaningful choice among these orders. Imam Rabbani contends that the Sufi order is not merely a semantic designation but an integral facet of Sharia. He believes no viable alternative to the Sufi order exists when sincerity is wholeheartedly embraced. Within this framework, he underscores the imperative for all Muslims to align themselves with the Sufi order. Furthermore, Imam Rabbani accentuates the undeniable significance of the Naqshbandi-Mujaddidi Sufi order in fostering virtuous character. In "Mukashafat al-Ayniyya," he adeptly reconciles the tenets of Sharia with those of the Sufi order, presenting a cohesive synthesis of their principles. The work emphasises the adherence to Sharia and underscores the pivotal role of spiritual education in shaping individual character. Imam Rabbani emphasises the influential role of virtuous spiritual guides and mentors while critiquing insincere or hypocritical figures within the spiritual realm. Imam Rabbani intricately explores the mystical experiences of revered Sufis and delves into the intricate terminology unique to Sufism in the meticulous division of his work into twenty-nine sections. Concurrently, he expounds upon the concept of "The Journey (Seyr-u Suluk)," providing nuanced insights into the various levels and dimensions of Sufism.

2024-01-23T00:00:00+03:00Copyright (c) 2024 CenRaPS Journal of Social Sciences
